Notice of Meeting and Hearing
Notice is hereby given that the Board of County Commissioners of Shawnee County, Kansas, will conduct a meeting and public hearing at 9:00 a.m. Thursday, March 21, 2024, in the Commission Chambers, Shawnee County Commission Office, 707 SE Quincy St., Topeka, Kansas, concerning the issuance by Shawnee County, Kansas (the “County”) of its Single Family Mortgage Revenue Bonds (Mortgage-Backed Securities Program), 2024 Series A (Non-AMT), in a principal amount not to exceed $20,000,000 (the “Bonds”).
The proceeds of the Bonds will be utilized (i) to purchase securities backed by residential mortgage loans made to qualified persons and families of low and moderate income residing within the Program Area (as defined below), and/or (ii) to provide funds to qualified persons and families of low and moderate income residing within the Program Area to be applied to the payment of downpayment or closing costs in connection with a residential mortgage loan.
The “Program Area” includes the unincorporated areas of the County, as well as the Kansas cities listed below and the unincorporated areas of the Kansas counties listed below, to the extent such cities and counties have entered into cooperation agreements with the County:

The proposed Bonds are, pursuant to K.S.A. 12-5219 et seq., special limited obligations of the County payable solely from mortgage payments and prepayments and revenues due from the mortgagors, and the Bonds are not payable from taxation in any manner and shall not constitute a debt of the County, the state of Kansas or any political subdivision thereof, within the meaning of any constitutional or statutory provision and are not payable from any manner of taxation.
All persons having an interest in the subject matter of the hearing will be given an opportunity to be heard at the time and place specified above. Written comments may also be submitted to the County Clerk, 200 SE 7th St., Room 107, Topeka, KS 66603, prior to the hearing.
