I co-signed a letter led by my colleague Mississippi Secretary of State Michael Watson urging USCIS to improve the SAVE program, which helps confirm non-citizens are not on the voter rolls in Kansas. The requested improvements would allow my office to search multiple individuals at once, increasing the quantity of identifying information for research.
Rebuttal Letter to USPS Postmaster General Louis DeJoy

I am in receipt of a letter from the USPS dated September 13, 2024 (and attached), which purports to be responsive to the concerns my office has raised to you regarding the USPS’s failure to postmark election ballots and failure to deliver those ballots timely. Both actions disenfranchised Kansas voters during the state’s August primary election, and I am seeking your assurance this will not occur in the November 5 general election. To date, I am disappointed in the USPS’s response.

As Kansas Secretary of State, I am requesting the assistance of the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to ensure that individuals who have registered to vote in Kansas are citizens of the United States entitled to vote in our state elections.
Letter to USPS Postmaster General Louis DeJoy

During the recent primary election in Kansas, voters had the opportunity to exercise their constitutional right to cast a ballot. Over 18 percent chose to do so by mail. Kansas law requires that an advance mail ballot must be postmarked no later than 7 p.m. on Election Day and received within three days of the election for the ballot to be counted.
