Request for Comments

The Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS) is amending the following Kansas Medicaid 1915(c) Waiver: HCBS Brain Injury Waiver.

The proposed amendment covers the following:

  • To clarify the role MCOs play when exceeding Specialized Medical Equipment and Supplies (SMES), Vehicle Modification Services (VMS), and Home and Environmental Services (HEMS) limitations.

The proposed effective date for the Brain Injury Waiver amendment is January 1, 2025.

KDADS seeks public comments from the general public on the proposed waivers from November 14, 2024, until 12:00 a.m. December 14, 2024.

The proposed waiver can be accessed:

  • Online at https://www.kdads.ks.gov under Services & Programs, then Long-Term Services & Supports page and then Home and Community Based Services (HCBS), and then Waiver Renewal/Amendment
  • By email at kdads.hcbs-ks@ks.gov.
  • By standard mail at Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services, Attn: BI Waiver Manager, 503 S. Kansas Ave., Topeka, KS 66603.

Draft copies of the proposed amendment may also be found at Local Health Departments.
