Notice Concerning Proposed Kansas Air Quality Construction Permit

Notice is hereby given that the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) is soliciting comments regarding a proposed air quality construction permit. WaterOne – Wyss Pump Station has applied for an air quality construction permit in accordance with the provisions of K.A.R. 28-19-300. Emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOC), particulate matter (PM), particulate matter with less than or equal to 10 microns in aerodynamic diameter (PM10), particulate matter with less than or equal to 2.5 microns in aerodynamic diameter (PM2.5), carbon monoxide (CO), oxides of nitrogen (NOx), oxides of sulfur (SOx), and hazardous air pollutant (HAPs) were evaluated during the permit review process.

WaterOne – Wyss Pump Station, 7601 Holliday Dr., Kansas City, KS 666106, owns and operates a water pump station located at 22650 W. 159th St., Olathe, Johnson County, KS 666061, at which two natural gas fueled engine generators are to be installed.

A copy of the proposed permit, permit application, all supporting documentation, and all information relied upon during the permit application review process are available for public review from the date of publication during normal business hours at the KDHE, Bureau of Air (BOA), 1000 SW Jackson, Suite 310, Topeka, KS 66612-1366 and at the Johnson County Department of Health, 11811 S. Sunset, Suite 2700, Olathe, KS 66061. To obtain or review the proposed permit and supporting documentation, contact Jonathan Tennis, 785-296-1581, at the central office of the KDHE or Rollin Sachs, 913-715-6939, at the Johnson County Department of Health. The standard departmental cost will be assessed for any copies requested. The proposed permit, accompanied with supporting information, is available, free of charge, at the KDHE BOA Public Notice website at https://www.kdhe.ks.gov/413/Public-Notices.

Please direct written comments or questions regarding the proposed permit to Jonathan Tennis, KDHE, BOA, 1000 SW Jackson, Suite 310, Topeka, KS 66612-1366. In order to be considered in formulating a final permit decision, written comments must be received no later than 12:00 p.m. Monday, August 29, 2022.

A person may request a public hearing be held on the proposed permit. The request for a public hearing shall be in writing and set forth the basis for the request. The written request must be submitted to Jonathan Tennis, KDHE, BOA, 1000 SW Jackson, Suite 310, Topeka, KS 66612-1366, no later than 12:00 p.m. Monday, August 29, 2022, in order for the Secretary of Health and Environment to consider the request.
