Secretary Schwab Invited to White House
Officials Discuss Nationwide Election Integrity
Wednesday, July 30, 2025
TOPEKA – Kansas Secretary of State Scott Schwab joined fellow Secretaries of State at the White House this week for a bipartisan meeting focused on election security. The discussion centered on enhancing information sharing between federal agencies and states — a key step toward strengthening voter roll maintenance nationwide.
Secretary Schwab has long advocated for greater access to federal data to help states maintain accurate voter rolls. Specifically, he has sought use of the Social Security Administration’s death index and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) data to identify deceased voters and remove non-citizens from registration databases.
“I have asked the previous administration to provide this information,” Schwab said. “It is refreshing to receive such a prompt and collaborative response from this administration.”
The Trump administration is the first to offer this level of support. This White House meeting represents one the first times Secretaries of State have been formally invited to discuss federal data-sharing to improve election administration — a step Schwab described as “long overdue” and vital to maintaining voter confidence.
“This is not a partisan issue,” Schwab added. “Every state should care about the integrity of their voter rolls and should want the most accurate, up-to-date data available to do so.”
Schwab praised President Trump for elevating this bipartisan issue to a national priority.
“Thank you, President Trump, for making this a priority,” Schwab said. “No previous administration has taken the initiative to bring this tool to the states.”
