Schwab Issues Filing Deadline Reminder

Thursday, May 30, 2024

TOPEKA – Today, Secretary of State Scott Schwab reminded candidates who are running for national, state, county, township, and precinct offices to file by 12:00 p.m. on Monday, June 3. National and state candidates are required to file with the Secretary of State’s office; while candidates filing for county, township, and precinct offices file with their county election office.

“To those who are eligible, I encourage you to run for office,” Schwab said. “Whether it’s a local or state position, public service is a meaningful way to contribute to your community and state.”

If a candidate has filed for office and wishes to withdraw, they must do so by submitting a signed and notarized written request by 12:00 p.m. on June 3.

For more information about filing fees or a list of candidates, visit VoteKansas.gov.

June 3 is also an important date for voters. Secretary Schwab reminded voters that the deadline to change their party affiliation prior to the primary election is 12:00 p.m. on June 3. If candidates or voters have any questions, please contact the Secretary of State’s office or your county election office.
