SECRETARY SCHWAB RECOGNIZES SEPTEMBER AS NATIONAL VOTER REGISTRATION MONTH
Friday, September 1, 2023
TOPEKA – Today, Secretary of State Scott Schwab is joining the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) to remind Kansans to register to vote or update their existing registration if needed. Voters who have moved, changed their name, or are wanting to change their party affiliation must update their voter registration.
NASS members established September as National Voter Registration Month in 2002 as a non-partisan means of encouraging voter participation and increasing awareness about state requirements and deadlines for voting.
“As a reminder, you must update your voter registration if you have moved or had a name change,” said Secretary Schwab. “When registering to vote, be aware of what website you are using. The use of a .gov website address helps Kansans know they are accessing a secure website affiliated with a government office instead of a non-governmental third-party site.”
Kansans who want to register to vote or update their voter registration information can go to the Secretary of State’s election information website VoteKansas.gov or the office’s website sos.ks.gov.
The deadline to register for the upcoming 2023 November municipal election is October 17.
