APPLICATION PERIOD EXTENDED FOR JOHNSON COUNTY ELECTION COMMISSIONER

TOPEKA – The Office of Secretary of State today announced the application period for the vacant Johnson County Election Commissioner has been extended to Friday, January 31 to account for the holiday season and ensure those interested have the opportunity to apply.
Pursuant to K.S.A. 19-3419, qualified candidates “...shall have been a qualified elector and a resident of the county at least two years prior to appointment.” Applicants must also be a citizen of the United States, 18 years or older and registered to vote. Although not required, preference will be given to candidates with the following credentials:
- Bachelor and/or Graduate degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Public Administration or related fields
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Minimum of three to five years management experience
- Demonstrated experience in relationship-building
