On Friday, June 12, 2026, pursuant to K.S.A. 25-308, the state objections board met to consider three objections to the Secretary of State’s determination, pursuant to K.S.A. 25-208a, that three candidate filings were invalid.

  1. Amy Arteaga, House 122, declaration of intent, for being filed after noon on June 1, 2026, a violation of K.S.A. 25-205.
  2. Kris van Meteren, Secretary of State, for filing a certificate of nomination from an organization that was not a recognized political party, a violation of K.S.A. 25-302.
  3. David Miller, Insurance Commissioner, for filing a certificate of nomination from an organization that was not a recognized political party, a violation of K.S.A. 25-302.

After hearing arguments and reviewing evidence in each matter, the board sustained the Secretary of State’s invalidity determination in each matter by a vote of 3-0.
